I met Dr. Byrd through my Mommy, Dr. Dawn Herd-Clark, In 2018. I was in the midst of a terrible storm involving physical, sexual, mental and emotional abuse from a “mentor” that literally used me for her own sexual gratification and pleasure. I was mentally distraught and had contemplated suicide as well as made several attempts to finally end my miserable life. I was almost successful with three of them. I didn’t care about life anymore. I felt like I was cursed for every traumatic experience that I have ever endured. I felt alone and that nobody cared about me with the exception of my mommy Dr. Clark. I wasn’t eating, going anywhere or enjoying life at all. I was simply existing & hurt. I didn’t think that I had a purpose or a reason to live. I hated myself for what I went through! People blamed me for my abuse and said I asked for it or wanted it. They didn’t care how it started off just wanting to hurt me even more.

I didn’t think hope was real and I even got angry with God! Dr. Byrd was very patient. She listened to me faithfully and started out VERY slow!  She utilized several counseling approaches in which my absolute favorite was “Person-centered” which is when the client leads the session. I was able to talk a lot and get a lot of things off of my chest WITHOUT being judged or humiliated. She HONORS confidentiality and engages in the most therapeutic and non judge mental sessions! I HIGHLY recommend ANYBODY to her regardless of what it is! I PROMISE you that things will start to flow back smoothly! Understanding will be projected! Positive coping mechanisms will be taught and self love will be instilled!
